Eucerin Replenishing Face Creme Night 5% Urea plus Lactate

Eucerin Replenishing Face Creme Night 5% Urea is an intensive overnight face cream for dry and tight-feeling skin. Enriched with Urea and Lactate, two compounds that bind moisture, it instantly hydrates dry facial skin, reducing the feeling of tightness. In addition to reducing roughness by maintaining skin hydration (rough skin is often caused by a lack of moisture), Eucerin Replenishing Face Cream Night 5% Urea also smoothes the skin.

Main findings

Highly pronounced, significant improvements in facial dryness and facial tension
Significantly reduced dry skin symptoms (redness due to dryness, facial scaling, facial itching)
The majority of patients described the creme’s tolerability as “good” or “very good”
Significantly increased skin moisturization as soon as week 1, compared to untreated skin
Moisturization gradually decreased after treatment was discontinued
Significantly reduced skin roughness as soon as week 1, compared to untreated skin
The decrease in skin roughness was maintained throughout the treatment period
Significantly improved skin barrier function, as measured by a decrease in transepidermal water loss, compared to untreated skin

Clinical Formula

Urea

Urea is one of the substances produced naturally by the skin called “natural moisturizing factors” (NMFs). Urea is hygroscopic, binding water in the uppermost layer of the skin, the stratum corneum. Urea is also keratolytic, meaning it breaks down the connections between dead skin cells, improving cell shedding and, thus, smoothing the skin’s surface.

Lactate

Like Urea, Lactate (the salt of Lactic Acid) is also a “natural moisturising factor” (NMF), and is produced naturally by the skin. Lactate absorbs and retains moisture within the stratum corneum, or upper layer of the skin, and therefore plays a vital role in maintaining the skin’s physical properties. Low levels of Lactate within the stratum corneum are known to be associated with dry skin.

Ceramide 3

Ceramides are produced by the skin as a natural protective barrier that prevents moisture loss due to evaporation. If the skin’s ceramide levels fall, dryness can result. Ceramide-3 is a synthetically produced biologically identical molecule that protects the skin's natural moisture barrier.

FAQ

Why do I need a special moisturiser for my face?

Your face is generally exposed to the causes of dry skin, like sunshine, wind and detergents, much more frequently than the rest of your body, and therefore needs frequent moisturisation to prevent dry skin symptoms, such as itching, redness, scaling and irritation. Eucerin UREA REPAIR Rich Face Cream contains key ingredients that lock in moisture to aid the regeneration process that mainly occurs at night. Learn more about dry facial skin.

Why should I use Eucerin UREA REPAIR Rich Face Cream instead of just using a body product, such as Eucerin UreaRepair Plus 5% Urea Body Cream, on my face?

Facial skin is different to body skin, and Eucerin UREA REPAIR Rich Face Cream is specifically formulated for facial skin - it has a superior texture to Eucerin UreaRepair Plus 5% Body Cream, making it more easily absorbed and better tolerated (when used on the face).

Is Eucerin UREA REPAIR Rich Face Cream safe for children?

This product was not designed for children, and therefore has not been tested by children. If you want a product that is suitable for children, try Eucerin AtopiControl Body Care Lotion or Face Care Cream. Both of these products are suitable for babies.

I am not sure if I have dry skin, extremely dry skin, or a skin condition. How can I tell the difference?

You can find information about dry skin, as well as skin conditions such as Atopic Dermatitis on face and body and diabetes, throughout our website. But if you are worried or unsure about your symptoms, or they are becoming worse, we recommend you see your dermatologist or pharmacist for a face-to-face diagnosis.

    Seborrheic dermatitis
This cream has been like a miracle for my seborrheic dermatitis but now I have been really disappointed to see the new formula has many added ingredients - one of these being oleic acid which is a huge seborrheic dermatitis trigger. Why change such a wonderful simple product?! I fear you are going to upset many people with this formula change.

This cream is so intensively moisturising. It has totally cleared up a flare up of seborrheic dermatitis on my face in three days, there's no more scaly dry flakes at all! My skin is so plump, it looks and feels fantastic. Amazing stuff

    An amazing moisturizer
My skin was very dry and a bit flaky but since I started using this moisturizer it has been soft and nourished. It is quite heavy and takes a lot of time to sink into the skin so I use it as a night cream. I will definitely repurchase.
